Inter Milan Legend Compares Incoming Goalkeeper Andre Onana to Julio Cesar, Names Him as One of the Best in the World
Samuel Eto’o believes Italian giants Inter Milan has acquired one of the best goalkeepers in the world by signing Andre Onana.
The Cameroon number one is joining the Nerazurris after leaving Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam at the end of the season.
Samuel Eto’o compared Onana to former Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar and believes his compatriot will be successful in Italy.
Inter Milan Hall of Famer, Samuel Eto’o has praised his former club’s signing of Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The former Italian champions agreed on a deal in principle with the goalkeeper in January but arrived in Milan this week to conclude the deal.
Eto’o who won a historic treble with Inter Milan in 2010 drew a comparison between Onana and his former teammate Julio Cesar and believes his compatriot can steer the Nerazzurri to success.
“For me he is one of the three best goalkeepers in the world, if not the best. I hope he will give a lot to Inter, but above all a lot to Cameroon. In modern football, having a goalkeeper who can cross the lines with passes of 50 or 60 meters is a factor,” Eto’o said as quoted by The Cult of Calcio
”They are from different eras, but for me he is like Julio Cesar in terms of impact,” he added. Onana left Ajax after seven successful years, winning three Eredivisie titles and two Johan Cryuff Shield.
