A catholic priest from the Douala ash diocese Rev Father Antoine De Padoue commits suicide i France. In a Press Statement from the Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Church in St. Marcelline France,’ Monseigneur Xavier Malle, Rev. Father Chonang took away his life on Monday, October 28, 2019.
Part of the statement read:
“It is with deep grief that I announce to you the death of Father Antoine De Padoue Chonang, priest of the Douala Archdiocese. He killed himself this morning in Marcellin”
Rev. Father Chonang was sent on a mission four years ago in the Diocese of Gap France.
In August 2016, His Lordship Archbishop Samuel Kleda who sent him to France ordered his return to Cameroon for other missions, but for reasons undisclosed to the public, the Priest refused to obey.
However, Monseigneur Xavier Malle of France acknowledged the fact the Priest was sick and undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed illness.
What pushed him to commit suicide, is the question on the lips of everyone.
Dear Rev. Fr. Antoine De Padoue Chonang,
whatever pushed you to hasten your exit from this earth, God alone knows. May His Mercies accompany you to the land of no sorrow and troubles in Jesus Name. Amen.
