The President of the Republic of Cameroon was born on February 13, 1933 in Mvomeka’a, district of Meyomessala, department of Dja-et-Lobo, Cameroon.

This Sunday, February 13, 2022, Paul Biya, the President of the Republic of Cameroon is blowing out his 89th candles. The current President of the Republic of Cameroon was born on February 13, 1933 in Mvomeka’a. It is in the Meyomessala sub division, of Dja-and-Lobo Division ,in the South region Cameroon. Since November 6, 1982, the latter has been the President of the Republic of Cameroon.

Long before his post at Etoudi, the palace of the Cameroonian people, he quickly rose through the ranks in the government of Ahmadou Ahidjo in the 1960s, serving as Chargé de Mission to the Presidency from 1962 to 1965; Director of Cabinet and Secretary General of the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Culture from 1965 to 1967; director of civil cabinet from 1967 to 1968; Minister Secretary General of the Presidency from 1968 to 1975, then Prime Minister of Cameroon from 1975 to 1982.

He succeeded Ahidjo as head of state following the latter’s surprise resignation in 1982, and consolidated his power after a coup attempt by the presidential guard in 1983-1984. In the 1980s, he introduced political reforms under strong pressure, and thus accelerated the return to a multiparty system in the early 1990s. He won the 1992 presidential election with 40% of the vote and was re-elected by a large majority in 1997, 2004, 2011 and 2018.
